Esports, League of Legends, & Rocket League
The school’s Esports team for League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant is hosting meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 4pm till 6pm in the Success Academy. For more information contact @GIPS Esports.
Happy Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break will take place Monday Nov. 21 to Friday Nov. 25. Students and staff will return to school the following Monday Nov. 28.
Holiday Program at Dodge
Dodge Elementary performed their holiday program on Nov. 16 in the GISH auditorium.
Islander Football Team
The Islander football team has had a great season this year. They have an overall record of 9-3, and a 3-1 record in districts.
Hunters Safety Class

Outdoor Adventure Club
There will be an ice fishing clinic on Jan. 14, 2023 from 1-5 pm at Yanney Heritage Park Env. Resource Center where Nebraska’s top fisherman will be giving a presentation. The ice fishing event is on Jan. 15 from 8 am to noon at Fort Kearney State Rec Lake #6. Registration is required for both events; see Mrs. Ekhoff soon because seating is limited.
As part of Thanksgiving, students were able to fill out paper leaves explaining what they were thankful for and hung their messages on the gratitude tree in front of the West Office.
One Acts performed Radium Girls in the Grand Island Senior High auditorium on Nov. 14. The ensemble’s 4th place finish in the competition at York the previous weekend was announced at the concert.

!Cap and Gown!
The year is not quite over, but graduation is just around the corner for the class of 2023. In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, students who are graduating will need to purchase a new cap and gown unit for $40. The set includes a cap, a gown, a tassel, and a diploma. Students who are not participating in the ceremony will still need to fill out an order form for their diploma, which costs $20. Payments for caps and gowns are due Friday, December 2. Mrs. Hernandez is taking orders and payments in the West Office.
GISH is looking for new academy ambassadors. An email has been sent out with the link to apply. An ambassador’s job is to represent the academies by giving tours, hosting events, and meeting with business partners. Girls Basketball Meeting
On November third there will be a pre-season meeting for the GISH girls basketball team. The meeting will be hosted in room 641 by coach Montgomery
The PSAT was held October 25th 2022 at GISH for 10th and 11th graders This test is the first step in qualifying to apply for the National Merit Scholarship. The test was given in the middle gym from 8:00-12:30.

Science Explore Club
Science Olympiad practices have begun for the Science Explore Club! If you are interested in talking science, they meet in room 621 every Thursday from 3:45-6:00 p.m.
If you are interested in joining the Unified Bowling team please fill out this form. Bowlers will need to be in groups of two (partners) and must be positive role models for athletes in Unified Bowling. Do you need help with homework or need a quiet place to study? Well, you’re in luck. The After School Program (ASP) is now available. They run sessions Monday-Thursday from 3:45 to 6 p.m. teaching math, English, history, and more. Stop by the library after school anytime you need help.

The Grand Public Schools Foundation hosted a Harvest event on Sept 22nd. A Silent auction will be held alongside the Harvest event. The Silent Auction began on Sept 12th, and ended on Sept 22nd.
